- The Department of Geography in the School of Natural Sciences are delighted to announce that they are organising an event called 'Dublin in the grip of an Ice Age' as part of the Dublin City of Science 2012 programme.

- In the wake of the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Trinity College and the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, (IITD), two MTech Civil Engineering students from IITD have spent an Internship undertaking research in the Structural Engineering Laboratory in the Simon Perry Building in Trinity. AssociateProfessor Roger West of TrinityHaus has been working with Associate Professor Suresh Bhalla of IITD on the use of sustainable indigenous bamboo as a structural load-bearing element in two-storey housing in India. The Internship students, Dinesh Choudhary and Sridhar Kajjam, worked closely with the technical staff in the laboratory to test in compression full length bamboo columns that had been strength enhanced by cross shear connectors. On-going collaborations are planned leading to further exchanges and publication of the research and this current work was supported by the FEMS India Fund
